Stay Right There

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high..”  (Luke 24:49 NIV)

Suggested Readings:  1 Kings 15-16; Luke 24:36-53.

Twelve common men from various occupations and social status accompanied Jesus for 3-1/2 years.  They ate with him, experienced His emotional outbursts, saw Him laugh and saw Him cry.  Saw His love for righteousness and hatred for hypocrisy.  They were present at every public and private meeting He held.  They witnessed His arrest, trial, execution and (soon) ascension.  They were eager to tell the world about their Savior, His work, His miracles and His life.  And Jesus’ last instructions to them were “Stay right there!”

Beloved, allow these same words to minister to you today.  You may feel as though you are qualified, some times over qualified, to perform a certain work in the Kingdom.  But the thing you need to do is to exercise patience and wait until God showers you with the authority to get that particular work done.  Heed the words that God spoke to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 9:23-24:  “Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:  But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

You see, dear one, things in the Kingdom get done in the timing and by the power and authority of Jesus the Christ.  The goal is to bring glory and honor to the Father, and only Jesus knows effectively how to get that done.  He said in John 8:29 (KJV), “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”  In order to successfully get the things of God done in the manner in which He wants them done, you’re going to need the mind of God.  That mind comes in the Holy Spirit.  That’s why the scripture says in 1 Corinthians 2:16, “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Friend, you HAVE to bring yourself to the mindset that if it was good enough for the early disciples and apostles then it’s got to be good enough for me!  If Jesus told His followers to wait, then He’s telling YOU the same thing to do today!  A half-baked pie, no matter how good it smells or looks in the oven, if you take it out before time, it’s still a half-baked pie.  Endure whatever it is you have to endure.  Keep the faith.  Hold to God’s unchanging hand.  And when it’s time for you to come forth, beloved, you’re coming forth as pure gold!  Gold, before it appears as it does, has to go thru a refining process.  It has to be tried in the fire, the impurities removed, shined, polished.  Without this process you’d probably never recognize it for what it truly was.  Go thru your process, dear one.  When you come forth, you’ll be so glad you did, and God will get the glory in your life and through your ministry!

I’d like to share with you Jamie Brown’s testimony and the lyrics to the song he wrote.  I hope this blesses you.  It’s located at:  https://worthilymagnify.com/2011/08/31/a-song-for-those-who-are-waiting/.

I am the God who formed the earth
I am the One who gave you life
I knew you long before your birth
And I have never left your side

I know your doubts, I know your fears
I know you’re weary from all the years
You’ve waited for an answer
You’ve prayed with all your heart

You’ve wondered if I hear you
You’ve stared into the dark
And I will do what’s best for you, my love
I will work my perfect will, and I will lift you up

I am always faithful and I am always good
You don’t always see it but it is always true
Don’t listen to the lies the Devil says
He is the accuser and I have conquered him

You are my beloved and I am in control
You can’t always see it but I am on the throne
One day you will see that I have worked
All things for my glory and all things for your good

One day you will see me as I am
Your Everlasting Father, and your never failing friend
And I know you don’t always understand
But I give you a promise: your Father has a plan

Jesus gives you access. The Spirit gives you strength
I love you and I’m with you and will hold you while you wait

Father, you instructed us that in our patience we should possess our souls.  Many times You’ve spoken concerning waiting on You.  Help that to become a reality in our lives today.  You know the timing of all things, and You alone know when it’s best for us to move.  Help us to relax and rely on Your wisdom and guidance, no matter the promptings of the enemy, friends or otherwise.  In Jesus’ Name we ask.  Amen.
